The Rolex Daytona 6263 “Big Red,” produced circa 1979, represents one of the defining configurations of the manual-wind Cosmograph Daytona. With its screw-down chronograph pushers, black tachymetric bezel, and unmistakable red “Daytona” signature, the reference has become one of the most recognizable and enduring vintage sports watches ever produced by Rolex. This example features the desirable floating dial configuration, with its original luminous material still preserved.
What makes this particular watch especially appealing is its honest condition and provenance. A two-owner example, the case has never been buffed, retaining the shape, proportions, and character acquired over nearly five decades rather than having been cosmetically restored. It is accompanied by Rolex service documentation as well as its original box, adding meaningful history to an already compelling watch. A beautiful, well-preserved 6263 that wears its age naturally, and a strong example of one of the cornerstone references in vintage Rolex collecting.
